Terms & Privacy
Last updated: 30 August 2026
Welcome to TechSide. These Terms & Privacy provisions explain the conditions that apply when you use TechSide services, make a booking, contact us through our website, or provide personal information to us.
By booking or using a TechSide service, you agree to these terms.
1. About TechSide
TechSide provides friendly, practical technology assistance to individuals in their homes and, where offered, remotely.
Our services may include assistance with computers, phones, tablets, Wi-Fi and internet connectivity, printers, smart TVs and streaming devices, email, applications, accounts, new device setup, backups, photos, connected home technology, basic online safety and other everyday technology needs.
TechSide provides technology assistance and guidance. We are not a financial institution, telecommunications provider, cybersecurity certification service, licensed electrical contractor or manufacturer-authorised repair centre unless specifically stated otherwise.
2. Our Services
We will make reasonable efforts to understand the problem or assistance you require and complete as much agreed work as reasonably possible within your booked appointment.
Technology problems can sometimes require additional time, replacement equipment, third-party support, specialist repair or services outside the scope of the original appointment. If this occurs, we will explain the situation and discuss the available options with you.
We may decline work that we reasonably consider unsafe, unlawful, outside our competence or inappropriate for TechSide to undertake.
Where appropriate, we may recommend that work be undertaken by another qualified provider.
3. Appointments and Pricing
The price and expected duration of each service are displayed when you make your booking.
Unless otherwise agreed, the advertised price covers the booked service and appointment duration.
If additional time is required, we will discuss this with you before continuing where reasonably practicable. Additional charges will not be deliberately incurred without your knowledge.
Any equipment, subscriptions, applications, replacement parts or third-party services required are additional to the TechSide service fee unless expressly stated otherwise.
You are responsible for approving any third-party purchase or charge before it is made.
4. Cancellations and Changes
We understand that plans change. If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please provide as much notice as reasonably possible.
TechSide may also need to reschedule an appointment due to illness, travel conditions, safety concerns or circumstances beyond our reasonable control. If this occurs, we will contact you and arrange another suitable time.
Any specific cancellation or rescheduling conditions displayed during the booking process will also apply.
5. Access to Your Home
For in-home appointments, you agree to provide reasonable and safe access to the location, equipment and devices necessary for us to provide the requested service.
TechSide reserves the right to leave or refuse to commence work if we reasonably believe the environment presents a health, safety, threatening or unlawful situation.
6. Authority to Request Work
By asking TechSide to work on a device, account, network or service, you confirm that you own it or have appropriate authority from the owner or account holder to request the work.
If you arrange a TechSide visit for another person, such as a parent or family member, the person receiving the service retains control over their devices, accounts and personal information unless appropriate authority has been provided.
7. Passwords, PINs and Account Access
Protecting your privacy is important to TechSide.
Where possible, we will ask you to enter your own passwords, passcodes and account credentials rather than providing them to us.
TechSide will not ask you to disclose banking PINs, credit or debit card PINs or other financial security codes.
We do not intentionally retain customer passwords unless there is a specific legitimate reason, the customer has expressly requested it, and an appropriate secure method has been agreed.
You should never send sensitive passwords or financial security information through the TechSide website contact form.
8. Banking and Financial Transactions
TechSide does not conduct banking or financial transactions on behalf of customers.
We may provide general assistance with understanding how to use a device or application, but customers remain responsible for entering financial credentials, reviewing transaction details and authorising transactions themselves.
9. Data, Photos and Backups
Technology work can sometimes involve a risk of data loss, particularly where devices are damaged, failing, infected, being reset, updated or transferred.
Where practical, we may recommend that important information is backed up before work begins.
Unless backup services are specifically included in the agreed work, you remain responsible for maintaining appropriate backups of important documents, photographs, contacts and other information.
TechSide will take reasonable care when handling your devices and information but cannot guarantee against data loss caused by pre-existing faults, hardware failure, software failure, third-party services or circumstances outside our reasonable control.
10. Third-Party Products and Services
TechSide may assist you with products or services supplied by third parties, including internet providers, device manufacturers, software companies, streaming services, cloud providers and telecommunications companies.
Those products and services remain subject to the third party's own terms, pricing, warranties and privacy practices.
TechSide does not control and cannot guarantee the availability, performance or continued operation of third-party products or services.
11. Safe & Connected Check
A Safe & Connected Check is intended to help identify common technology, account, update, backup and online-safety issues and provide practical recommendations.
It is not a formal cybersecurity audit, security certification, penetration test, guarantee against scams, hacking, malware, identity theft or other cyber incidents.
No computer, account, network or online service can be guaranteed to be completely secure.
12. Scams and Online Safety
TechSide may provide general guidance about common scams, suspicious messages, account security and safer technology practices.
This assistance is educational and practical in nature and does not constitute legal, financial or specialist cybersecurity advice.
If we believe an issue may involve serious fraud, identity theft, financial loss, criminal activity or a significant cybersecurity incident, we may recommend that you contact your financial institution, relevant service provider, police or an appropriate specialist.
13. Electrical, Cabling and Specialist Work
TechSide provides technology assistance.
We will not undertake electrical installation, permanent electrical or telecommunications cabling, regulated trade work or specialist repairs requiring licences or qualifications that TechSide does not hold.
Where such work is required, we may recommend that you engage an appropriately licensed or qualified provider.
14. Results and Technology Limitations
We will use reasonable care and skill when providing TechSide services.
However, some technology problems cannot be resolved during a single appointment or may be caused by hardware failure, service-provider problems, obsolete equipment, unavailable software, account restrictions or other circumstances outside TechSide's control.
Payment for a service reflects the time, assistance and expertise provided and does not necessarily guarantee that every technology issue can be completely resolved.
Nothing in these terms excludes any rights or guarantees that cannot lawfully be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law.
15. Privacy

Please do not enter passwords, banking information, credit card details, PINs or other highly sensitive information into the website contact form.
18. Online Bookings
TechSide uses Microsoft services, including Microsoft Bookings and Microsoft 365, to manage appointments, communications and business information.
When you make an online booking, information you provide may be processed and stored using Microsoft's systems in accordance with Microsoft's applicable privacy and security practices.
Other technology providers used to operate the TechSide website and business may also process limited information where necessary to provide those services.
19. Family Members Booking for Someone Else
A family member or other authorised person may arrange an appointment for another person.
Where this occurs, TechSide will respect the privacy and wishes of the person receiving the service.
We will not automatically provide detailed information about that person's devices, accounts or technology use to the person who arranged the appointment without appropriate permission.
Where the customer agrees, TechSide may provide a family member or nominated contact with an appropriate summary of the work completed or recommendations made.
20. Protecting Your Information
TechSide takes reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss, unauthorised access, modification or disclosure.
We aim to retain only information reasonably necessary for business, service, legal or administrative purposes.
No internet-based system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, and customers should avoid sending highly sensitive credentials through email, website forms or other unsecured communications.
21. Sharing Personal Information
TechSide will not sell your personal information.
We may disclose limited information where reasonably necessary to technology providers that help us operate the business, such as website, email, booking or cloud-service providers.
We may also disclose information where required or authorised by Australian law or where reasonably necessary to address a serious safety, security or legal issue.
22. Accessing or Correcting Your Information
You may contact TechSide if you would like to request access to personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate information, or ask us to delete information that is no longer reasonably required.
Some information may need to be retained where required for legitimate business, taxation, legal or record-keeping purposes.
23. Changes to These Terms & Privacy Provisions
